BBFC - British board of film classification. They have no actual power but because of their reputation as a trusted censorship company, the council will enforce and guidelines and ratings that are set by them. The ratings are as follows:





IPSO - Independent Press Standards Organisation. IPSO regulate print based work and newspapers. They can fine up to £1 million to any newspaper company that does not follow the Editor's Code. This code is designed to help people included in news stories, journalists and the public's right to information. It also covers sensitive stories such as suicide and rape so that the victims and the victims' families are protected. They can make newspaper companies publish corrections or adjudications to their prints, including their front page.




OFCOM - The Office Of Communications. They are granted aid from the government provided that they fill out their duty to regulate the TV, radio and video-on-demand sectors, fixed-line telecoms (phones), mobiles and postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate. They ensure that the UK has a wide range of electronic communications services. They also make sure a wide range of television and radio programmes are provided appealing to a range of interests. They also work to protect people from harmful and offensive material and protect people from being treated unfairly in television and radio programmes and from having their privacy invaded.
